Hints & Tips for Freelance Translators
Stand out from the crowd
Offer additional services and/or demonstrate extraordinary flexibility. Our industry is expanding massively and translators who go the extra mile will always be in demand. Offer to work nights, weekends and handle rush jobs. Make sure you can be contacted on your mobile at all times.
DO NOT accept work you can’t handle under any circumstances
The fastest way to blow your career as a freelance translator is accept an assignment which you can’t deliver on time to the required quality. Word gets around fast in this industry and you could well be sued for damages. If you are not confident it is OK to say “NO”. Much better to do this than mess up a job.
Be professional
Finish every project on time and on budget, and NEVER miss a deadline without notifying us as soon as you realize that.
