HOW ARE TRANSLATION JOBS PRICED?
Translation pricing basics
Translation Expertise price each translation separately to ensure you receive the translation which best matches your needs and budget.
Deadline
To accommodate urgent requirements it is sometimes necessary to work weekends or split jobs between several translators and recombine the finished document (under the watchful eye of an experienced lead translator). Premium time and extra resources cost us extra which we must pass on to you. Conversely, less urgent assignments may attract lower charges in return for flexible deadlines.
Format of the source documents
The format in which you supply the source document greatly affects the time required to produce your translation and hence the price. For instance, it is often quicker and easier for us to work with Word for Windows files than difficult-to-read hand written documents or faxes.
Format of the finished documents
Translation Expertise can supply documents as standard computer files at no additional cost.
Complexity & level of specialist knowledge required
Experts command a premium for their services. Complex technical, medical and legal documents are likely to be more expensive than, say, general business correspondence. For this reason, we always ask to see a sample of the document before quoting a price. In this way we are able to assign a translator with the appropriate level of expertise at a fair price for the class of translation you have requested.

HOW ARE INTERPRETING ASSIGNMENTS PRICED?
Interpreter pricing basics
You are buying the time and expertise of an individual interpreter or team of interpreters. Translation Expertise is careful to price each interpreting assignment separately to ensure you receive the service which best matches your needs and budget.
Duration of assignment
Interpreting assignments are charged in multiples of half a day (4 hours) with overtime charged in hours (or part thereof). Substantial discounts are available for lengthy or regular assignments so please call for the most competitive quote.
Location of assignment
Translation Expertise is usually able to locate an interpreter based near to where you need them. If interpreters need to travel, we ask you to cover their travel expenses and accommodation.
Depth of specialist knowledge required
Experts command a premium for their services. Specialised technical, medical and legal interpreters are likely to be more expensive than, say, general business interpreters. For this reason, we always discuss your assignment in detail before quoting to ensure we assign interpreter(s) with the appropriate level of expertise at a fair price.

What format is your document currently in?
It’s important that we know what format your original document is in. Is it in a machine readable format such as Microsoft Word or PDF or is it hand-written, typed or faxed?
How would you like your translated document to be presented back to you?
Translation Expertise can supply documents as standard computer files and regular hard-copy quickly and easily.
Which language(s) do you need your document translating into?
Which language pair (or pairs) do you need you document translating into? The number and difference of language pairs required obviously affects the time and cost of the work.
How complex is your document?
Is your document simple plain text or does it contain complex tables, diagrams and other graphics which need translating? We can translate all types of documents but the more complex the original document then the more time and effort will be required. This extra time and effort will be reflected in the price charged.
What level of specialist knowledge is required?
If your document is highly technical or specialist in nature we want to be absolutely sure we place the work with someone who is qualified and experienced in the subject matter. That is why we always ask to see a sample (or, if possible, the whole document) before quoting.
